Walk-Ons

Walk-ons consist of a participant walking on stage, striking a pose and then exiting the stage. Time on stage will be limited to only 30 seconds.

Costumes in this category are judged on portrayal of character. We are allowing for commissioned, found items and store bought costumes in this category. Additionally walk-ons have the option of being judged for craftsmanship. Costumes being judged for craftsmanship must be made by the entrant or the creator of the costume must be present at the time of craftsmanship judging.

Original costumes/characters are allowed to compete in this category. We ask that original characters provide concept sketches or image references.

If two or more participants would like to walk-on stage together, they may do so but each participant will be judged individually in terms of craftsmanship judging. This means that participants will be judged separately but will be allowed to be on stage together.

Craftsmanship Judging

Craftsmanship judging is open to those that are competing in the skit or walk-on categories. The participant(s) maybe be judged as a group or as an individual. If the participant wishes to be judged for craftsmanship he/she must be present during the posted judging times on Sat. Sept. 10th 2011. If the participant is not present at this time to be judged, he/she will be disqualified for a craftsmanship prize. The participant will be judged on the workmanship quality of the costume. Costume must be made by the wearer or the creator must be present at the time of judging. Purchased, rented or commissioned costumes or costumes made for the participant by a designer or seamstress are prohibited in craftsmanship judging.

Found Items Exemption: "Found Items" pieces are allowed to represent up to 20% of the costume. These are items that have been found at various retail establishments. Examples of this are gloves, shoes or belts. Items may be altered or unaltered.

Group Craftsmanship Exemptions: If one member of a group entry participates in craftsmanship judging then all members of the group must go through the craftsmanship judging process. If select members of a group entry would like to be judged for craftsmanship then those select members have the option of entering the Walk-On as individual entries and competing for craftsmanship there. We will not allow any participant to engage in both group craftsmanship (via skit) and individual craftsmanship (as a Walk-On), participants must choose one or the other.
